Kings XI Punjab is one of the oldest franchises in IPL but hasn’t won an IPL title till now.

The experience gained by the franchise after playing ten seasons of IPL will surely help the team going into the 11th edition.

KXIP have star players in their team and the backroom staff who should play a major role in the success of the side.

One of the major decisions taken by the team is to select best four foreign players in the playing XI.

Today, we have a look at four foreign players who might be a likely starter in Kings XI Punjab’s camp –

Kings XI Punjab Andrew Tye IPL 2018
Kings XI Punjab bought Andrew Tye at the IPL auction 2018.

Andrew Tye –  Kings XI Punjab spent big bucks to acquire the services of the Australian pacer, and he is an automatic selection in the playing XI right from day 1.

He was sold for an amount of Rs 7.20 Crore.

Tye, who has three hat-tricks in T20 cricket, would not have gained many headlines had he not taken a hat-trick on his IPL debut last year, playing for Gujarat Lions.

He took three wickets in three balls against Rising Pune Supergiant and became the first bowler to take a hat-trick on IPL debut.

Interestingly, it was the second hat-trick of the day.

Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner, Samuel Badree, had already taken a hat-trick in the afternoon against Mumbai Indians and Tye was the second bowler of the day to do so.

Marcus Stoinis – Kings XI Punjab retained Stoinis by using their Right to Match (RTM) card, which makes him an automatic selection in the playing XI.

Stoinis will give KXIP much needed power with both bat and ball.

In the past one year, his performances have gone up leaps and bounds, and KXIP will expect him to deliver right from the start.

KXIP acquired him for a huge amount of Rs 6.20 Crore.

David Miller – Former KXIP captain, David Miller, was also one of the players to be retained by the franchise by use of RTM card.

Before IPL 2014, KXIP did not wait for using RTM card and retained him before the auction.

Miller has done well in T20 cricket in recent times and is a likely starter in KXIP’s playing XI.

Also, KXIP does not have many international players on their roster, which will keep Miller ahead.

He has played 66 IPL games till now in which Miller has scored 1563 runs batting at a strike-rate of 141.44.

KXIP retained Miller for an amount of Rs 3 Crore.

Chris Gayle – He would not have been on this list, but the unavailability of Aaron Finch could see Gayle opening the innings.

As Virender Sehwag himself said, Gayle might open the innings until Finch is available.

Those couple of games which he would play in Finch’s absence will be a chance for Gayle to score runs and fix his place in the playing XI.

It’s up to him to score runs and continue his association with IPL.

Already, he found a buyer in the third round of auction, and if Gayle fails to deliver in this season, he might not get a buyer in the next edition of the T20 league – if released.
