The second half of Super Saturday promised a possible knockout of Kolkata Knight Riders, as they faced table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad, whilst at 14 points, needing two more points to secure a position in the playoffs.

KKR’s dream to qualify for the playoffs looked far-fetched after the platform provided by the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Goswami and Williamson.

Apart from the batting, it was KKR’s presence in the field which appeared dismal with the dropped catches and the lazy ground fielding.

However, the bowling unit, marshalled by captain Dinesh Karthik, pulled it back during the last six overs by clinching wickets in clumps.

In the end, from a possible 210, the Knights had to chase down 172 to become the third team to qualify for the playoffs.

Lynnsanity struck Hyderabad this time, as Chris Lynn notched up a quickfire 55. With assistance from Sunil Narine and Robin Uthappa, the KKR chase was set up perfectly. The Australian also went on to win the man of the match title for his efforts.

Finally, it came down to captain Dinesh Karthik who hit the finishing blow, as they triumphed over the Sunrisers with five wickets in hand.

It’s a great feeling. We’re building momentum nicely, so let’s see what happens. The wickets in BBL are a bit quicker, so I have to adapt here. I am finding my touch,” Chris Lynn told Harsh Bhogle during the presentation.

On opening with Sunil Narine

Sunil is blasting it at the other end, so we’ve two blokes doing that now. The main thing is to build partnerships. It’s good fun (when Sunil is batting). He can take the momentum away from the other team. He keeps it nice and simple, and that seems to be working for him,” concluded Chris Lynn.
