Rajasthan Royals (RR) wicketkeeper-batsman, Jos Buttler has joined Virat Kohli in an elite list of records post his magnificent knock against Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (May 11) night.

Meanwhile, Buttler was on fire as Rajasthan chased down 177 against Super Kings. Buttler helped Royals to stay alive in Indian Premier League 2018 for the playoffs berth. He took the attack to the opposition right from the first ball as CSK bowlers went in search of the leather.

Buttler gave at least three opportunities to the visitors. He stayed on till the end and hit 12 runs off the last over to take Royals over the line. It subsequently helped hosts to seal a crucial four-wicket victory over good-looking Chennai side. His unbeaten knock of 95 included 11 fours and two sixes.

The English batsman Buttler’s dream run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) started on May 2 when he hammered a 26-ball 67 against Delhi Daredevils (DD).

Four days later in Indore, Buttler hammered a 39-ball 51 against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). On Tuesday, he was far more dangerous and batted deep as he tried to single-handedly carry his side to 158 for eight from their 20 overs.

And then on May 8, he smashed a 58-ball 82 – to set up Royals’ 15-run win over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

Jos Buttler joins Kohli –

Buttler became only third batsman after Kohli to score four consecutive half-centuries in the history of the domestic professional Twenty20 league.

However, Virender Sehwag holds the record for most successive fifties in the IPL – back in 2012. He struck five fifties on-the-trot for Delhi Daredevils.

Only two other batsmen have scored five successive half-centuries in T20 cricket – Hamilton Masakadza and Kamran Akmal.

Overall, 16 other batsmen have struck four consecutive half-centuries in T20 cricket.

Royals’ skipper, Ajinkya Rahane is one of them having scored four straight fifties in 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.  Moreover, Kohli, in fact, scored four successive fifties twice in T20 cricket.

Buttler has certainly justified his price tag this season. He is among the top ten leading run-scorers in the tournament and has easily been the most impressive batsman for the Royals.
