IPL 2018: Krishnappa Gowtham Picks his Best Moment of the Tournament

Krishnappa Gowtham is one of the biggest positives for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018. The all-rounder picks taking the wicket of Ravichandran Ashwin and Brendon McCullum as his Best moment in the ongoing IPL 2018.

Gowtham is playing imperative cameos while batting lower down the order for the Royals. The Karnataka all-rounder had got his team out off troubled water against defending champions when he hammered 33 runs off just 11 balls.

Moreover, Gowtham played another cameo of 13 runs off four balls to help his team clinch win against Chennai Super Kings.

K Gowtham has impressed with his all-around skills.

It is not just with the bat that K Gowtham has played his part; he has also done a fine job with the ball. The off-spinner has bowled in the powerplay overs and has provided early breakthroughs to his team. Moreover, Gowtham is also economical in his spells.

K Gowtham said while talking to Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview,

“Getting Brendon McCullum’s wicket at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Three reasons why it is my favourite. One, it was McCullum and second, it was in Bangalore. Three, it was in a winning cause. In Jaipur, the wicket of R Ashwin against Kings XI Punjab was my favourite. It is an off spinner’s delight to get a fellow offspinner (laughs).”

Gowtham credits his Mother.

The right-handed all-rounder gave credit to his mother for his cricketing career. Gowtham went on to reveal his father didn’t have any knowledge of his coaching.

“She was the main reason why I started playing cricket. My dad did not know that I was part of the school team and my mother used to send me for cricket coaching classes without my dad’s knowledge”.

Gowtham added it is imperative to motivate oneself. The all-rounder is of the opinion he wants to give his best shot and thus doesn’t want to have any regrets later.

The Karnataka all-rounder went on to add,

“I did not want to have this regret when I get picked that, ‘ I could have tried harder’. As professional cricketers, you have to motivate yourself. If you really want to do well, you have to sacrifice a lot of things”.

These excellent performances of Gowtham in the ongoing tournament will give him a shot in the arm.
