Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni mercilessly trolled cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar during the toss time for the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega final at Wankhede in Mumbai.
So much so, with Chennai chasing their third title of the lucrative league and Hyderabad eyeing their second, the margin for error was very thin.
The players from both the sides would have felt butterflies in their stomach, but such was the intensity of the contest that it even gave commentator Manjrekar the early jitters.
Ahead of the clash, Manjrekar had Dhoni and Kane Williamson down in the middle for the toss. Dhoni flipped the coin up in the air and Williamson called ‘tails’, but it rolled unusually far away from them. By the time Manjrekar and the Match Referee Andy Pycroft made their way to the coin and found that it was ‘heads’, Manjrekar forgot what Williamson called for.
In a rare lapse of concentration, Manjrekar asked for Dhoni’s help to solve the riddle. But, to everyone’s fun, Dhoni trolled the Indian commentator and confused him even more.
Here is the conversation:
Manjrekar: “You called heads”.
Dhoni: “No, he (Williamson) called tails”.
Manjrekar: “Yes, you called heads”.
Dhoni: “No, he called tails!”.
Frustrated by Dhoni’s wit, Manjrekar asked the former Indian captain to “stop fooling around”.
Meanwhile, opting to field first, CSK led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni saw Hyderabad post a competitive total of 178 runs on the back of crucial knocks from Williamson (47) and Yusuf Pathan (45*).

However, their total eventually became a stroll for Chennai, who adequately propelled by an unbeaten 117-run knock from Shane Watson to an emphatic eight-wicket win and nine balls to spare in edition eleven.
