It will be a must-win game for the Delhi Daredevils when they meet the Rajasthan Royals in the 32nd match of Vivo IPL 2018.

Any more hiccups will cost Daredevils big time. They have already lost six and need to win their remaining six games to qualify for the playoffs. The only plus point for Delhi is that five of their last six games are at home.

However, their main worry is that three out of those matches are against the top two sides on the points table. But the significance of the games against Chennai and Hyderabad won’t have any bearing on the outcome of the tournament if Delhi loses today against the Rajasthan Royals.

Delhi Daredevils raised a ray of hope when they defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders quite comprehensively by 55 runs about five days ago. Newly appointed skipper, Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant knock scoring 93 off just 40 deliveries which included a-29 run over from Shivam Mavi in the end.

The bowling has also been impressive at times. The form of Risabh Pant has been quite a positive for the Delhi Daredevils. The southpaw has played some stellar knocks but hasn’t been enough to give his side the consistent breakthroughs.

Rajasthan is also having an indifferent season so far. Having won three out of the seven matches they have played so far, Rajasthan needs to pull their socks and start winning more consistently. They are on the radar of the top four but have need to be a bit more consistent to produce more results in their favour. The inclusion of Jofra Archer has worked wonders for Rajasthan.

The all-rounder has already bagged six wickets in the couple of matches he has played so far. He has looked in terrific rhythm. It was his brilliant spell which helped them restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad to a modest total of 151 runs in their previous encounter.

However, their batsmen failed to chase the total down eventually losing by 11 runs. That was a match that they should have won. However, the Hyderabad bowlers defended another low total.

In the game against the Mumbai Indians, it was a sensational knock of 33 runs off just 11 deliveries by Krishnappa Gowtham which handed Rajasthan a brilliant come from behind victory. They will look for a victory on Wednesday. On the other hand, Delhi will also be upbeat for a win which requires very badly.

Daredevils were below par with the ball in hand, but their batting department was quite impressive scoring 198 runs while chasing 211.

Rishabh Pant played a brilliant inning, but it wasn’t enough to hand them a victory. Mohammed Shami might make a return at the expense of Rahul Tewatia who hasn’t played any innings of substance or hasn’t provided the much-needed wickets in their middle overs.

Predicted XI: Colin Munro, Prithvi Shaw, Glenn Maxwell, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar, Liam Plunkett, Rahul Tewatia/Mohammed Shami, Amit Mishra, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan

The inclusion of Ish Sodhi proved to be decisive for Rajasthan, as the leggie bowled pretty well. He bagged the prized wicket of Kane Williamson and troubled the batsmen with his variations.

In all likelihood Rajasthan will play the same team that lost against Hyderabad by 11 runs.

Predicted XI: Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Mahipal Lomror, Jofra Archer, Krishnappa Gowtham, Ish Sodhi, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaydev Unadkat

Match Predictions

Rajasthan looks favourites to win, but on the other hand, Delhi is desperate for a victory. Chances are 50-50 but my vote is with the Royals. They have bowled quite brilliantly which would give them an edge in tonight’s encounter.
