Chennai Super Kings won their 3rd Vivo IPL title after registering an eight-wicket victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of Vivo IPL 11.
It was a sensational knock from the blade of Shane Watson who eventually handed Chennai a mindboggling victory in the end. It was a stroll in the park for them, as Watson made light work of the target.
He started off with ten dot deliveries. However, he struck the 11th ball for a boundary and from there on, it was no stopping Watson. The swashbuckling all-rounder smashed the Hyderad bowlers all around the park and remained unbeaten on 117 off 57 deliveries which studded with 11 fours and eight sixes.
It was some effortless hitting from Waston which eventually propelled Chennai to their 3rd IPL title. They have now become the most successful team in the tournament with three titles along with Mumbai Indians.
Earlier, it was some good batting by Hyderabad, as they scored 178 in their allotted 20 overs. It wasn’t a big total especially at a stadium like Wankhede. However, in a final run on the board always matters and with a bowling line-up that Hyderad boasts they would have backed themselves to come out triumphant.

Kane Williamson continued his consistent performance and scored yet another fluent 47. However, he got dismissed in a crunch situation of the match. Yusuf Pathan fired in the big game and ended up scoring 45 off 25 deliveries which included a couple of fours and four sixes.
Carlos Brathwaite also smashed three sixes during his brisk knock of 21 off 11 deliveries. ‘
Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers started off quite well. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was at his sensational best in his first over and bowled a maiden. However, Watson started an onslaught on the Hyderabad bowlers who put rest to Hyderabad’s hopes.
Following the victory, former English skipper Michael Vaughan congratulated CSK on a brilliant win. He also heaped praise on a sensational coach, Stephen Fleming and a superb skipper MS Dhoni.
“Super Coach … Super Captain … Winning a Super Tournament …,” Vaughan tweeted.
