IPL 2018: MS Dhoni Becomes First Player to Lead an IPL Team in 150 Games

Mahendra Singh Dhoni also named as MS Dhoni, has added yet another feather on Saturday, to his already illustrious cap when he took the field against the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) while leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their second home in Pune.

The World Cup-winning skipper has become the first player to play 150 matches as captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The decorated skipper-led Super Kings from the front since the inaugural edition of the domestic professional Twenty20 league in 2008.

One of the most successful skippers in the league, Dhoni led the Chennai-based outfit to two IPL titles.

In addition, Dhoni oversaw them to the IPL finals on four different occasions. He also led the team to the now-scrapped two Champions League titles.

Overall, he led Super Kings to 129 games till 2015, before the franchise was suspended due to corruption charges.

In the following season, he led Rising Pune Supergiant to 14 games.

In 2017, he was stripped of captaincy before he donned the famous yellow jersey of Super Kings in the ongoing season eleven following two-year hiatus.

Dhoni achieved the incredible feat when he led the team in their seventh game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday (April 28).

Out of those 150 games, he led his side to win in 88 games. Dhoni is followed by Gautam Gambhir, who led an IPL side in 129 games. The duo is followed by Virat Kohli (88), Rohit Sharma (82),  Adam Gilchrist (74) and Shane Warne (55).

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is enjoying a stunning season with the Super Kings in the comeback year.

In first six games, Super Kings won five to sit at top of the points table. Dhoni is also enjoying a good outing with the bat, scoring two fifties.
