Mumbai Indians managed to get hold of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard among their core group of players but they had to part ways with veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh, who played for the Mumbai based franchise for ten years.
Harbhajan was signed by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL auction, which took place in Bangalore on January 27th and 28th.
Bhajji had scalped 127 wickets from 137 IPL games so far. Mumbai Indians’ owner Nita Ambani expressed her disappointment at not being able to retain the spinner for the upcoming season of the IPL. She said that she wanted to have Bhajji on the side.
“I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed that we didn’t get X or Y. However, we won’t be having Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh), so that’s a disappointment,” she told Indian Express.
On being asked about her reaction to being part of the heated bidding process, she said,
“Happy and exhausted… That would be my reaction.”

Harbhajan had earlier spoke highly of the IPL franchise. He said it is like his family and he understands the decision going forward.
“They called me and spoke to me about their ongoing plans. They are like family and have to accept the decision.”
“Whatever they are doing, they are doing it for the best of their team and whatever they are looking to do. I am not disappointed. I am always like this. Whoever takes me I will
give my 100 percent,” he added.
