BCCI has decided not to change the timings of IPL contests.

As per the release of BCCI, the IPL games will start at the original timings.

It means that an evening contest will start at 4:00 PM while the night game will start at 8:00 PM.

Rajiv Shukla, the IPL Chairman, had earlier said discussed regarding a change in the timings of IPL contests.

As per the tweaked timings, the evening contest was to start at 5:30 PM while the night contest was to start at 7:00 PM.

The main reason for BCCI looking to change the timings was that a night game used to end nearly 11:30 PM, which is quite late in India.

The decision to change the timings of the games did not go well with the franchises and almost every franchise objected the idea due to overlapping timings.

Rajasthan Royals though came with an innovative idea of organising breakfast games, on days of doubleheaders.

Two IPL games at the same time would have meant the diversion of traffic, which was one of the main reasons behind franchises opposing the idea of change in IPL timings.

As the trend has been for past 10 years, an evening contest will start at 4:00 PM while a night game will start at 8:00 PM.

Meanwhile, BCCI also announced the schedule of IPL 2018.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai will host the opening contest of the season. It will also host the final of the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals will play their first contest against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9.

Prior to the start of the tournament, an opening ceremony will also be held in Mumbai.

This time, only one opening ceremony will take place, unlike last year.

In the tenth edition of IPL, a total of eight opening ceremonies took place to celebrate 10 years of the T20 league.

Each franchise hosted an opening ceremony on the day of their first home game.
