IPL 2018: Rajasthan Royals Sweating Over Jofra Archer's Fitness

Even before the start of IPL, many of the teams have faced few casualties as some key players have got injured and are in doubt for the tournament.

One of the players who is currently recovering from an injury is Jofra Archer, who was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for a huge amount of Rs 7.20 Crore in the IPL auction.

Archer, who was all set for his maiden IPL stint, got injured while playing PSL.

He suffered side strain after playing just two games and was later ruled out of the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals team management is keeping a keen eye on him and hopes him to get fit before IPL,

“We are looking after him in Dubai. We are confident of getting him from the start,” a source told Sportstar.

Archer, who was born in Barbados, is now looking forward to playing for England.

He is currently serving the eligibility period to play for the country.

He received limelight during the Big Bash League, and just a couple of days later, he emerged out as one of the top sellers in IPL auction.

Archer made his first-class debut for Sussex against visiting Pakistan team in 2016 while his List A debut came against Gloucestershire, the same year.

He has played 20 first-class games till now in which he has scored 833 runs and has also taken 89 wickets.

In 10 List A contests, Archer has 130 runs and 16 wickets.

The all-rounder has played 41 T20Is where hs has scalped 50 wickets.

Archer performed well in Big Bash League and Rajasthan Royals will hope that the all-rounder will be fit for the T20 league.

The report in Sportstar adds that he is expected to arrive in India in April, depending on fitness.

Should he land in India, Archer will get his full amount while he will miss out on the amount if he misses the league.

The upcoming edition of IPL starts on April 7 with Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

The final of the league will also be played at the same venue on May 27.
