Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) skipper, Ravichandran Ashwin congratulated his former franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK), for lifting the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) coveted title for the third time since its inception in 2008

Meanwhile, Chennai defied criticism to win the trophy for the third time after coming out from a two-year suspension. Experienced all-rounder Shane Watson struck a brilliant unbeaten century to guide his team to the glory.

Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu also provided an ample support while playing the second hand to Watson. Watson remained unbeaten on 117 runs after facing just 57 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and eight towering sixes.

Previously, Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Kane Williamson got Hyderabad to a good start after losing the early wicket of Shreevats Goswami. The pair added 51 before Dhawan departed, however, Williamson (47) continued his outstanding form.

Further, Yusuf Pathan played a significant knock after he came to the crease at the score of 101 for three. Pathan remained unbeaten on 45 runs from just 25 deliveries including four boundaries and two sixes, as Hyderabad finished on 178 at the loss of six wickets.

Chennai reached the target with nine balls to spare.

Ashwin, who parted ways with Chennai after the franchise decided not to retain him for the eleventh edition congratulated Chennai. He also lauded them for being the joint best along with the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin led KXIP lost track midway in the tournament after having a great start. However, they will look come back stronger in the next year and win their maiden title.
