Shikhar Dhawan is in doubt to play Sunrisers Hyderabad’s tie against Chennai Super Kings.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, he did not train on the eve of the game, which gives an indication that he might be forced to sit out of CSK’s tie.
Dhawan was hit on his elbow on the first ball he faced against Kings XI Punjab and straightaway walked off the field.
He did not come out to bat again, which tells the gravity of the pain.
There are high chances of Dhawan giving tie a miss and in that case, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain Kane Williamson might himself be forced to open the innings.
Should Dhawan be ruled out, Sachin Baby could make his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad but he would have to bat in the middle order.
Though, it will come as a big blow for the team as he has been one of the performing players for his team with the bat.
While on one hand, Wriddhiaman Saha has struggled to score while opening, Dhawan has performed well.
Dhawan’s has been one of the major reasons behind team’s success and if he misses the game, it will be a big blow for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In fact, the team had won three games in which Dhawan was there and lost the contest where he was forced to sit out after just one ball.
His absence meant that pressure fell on the middle order to chase a huge total of 205 and the team was bowled out on a score of 140.
SRH will surely miss Dhawan’s presence in the team if he misses the game.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings is not expected to make any changes in the winning combination.
This would mean that Harbhajan Singh might have to warm the bench, again.
He was benched for the previous game for Karn Sharma, who took last two wickets of Rajasthan Royals on successive deliveries.
The match between CSK and SRH will be played in Hyderabad.
If CSK win this game, they will keep the number two spot on the points table while SRH will take their spot should Kane Williamson led side post a win.
