The Sunrisers Hyderabad is all set to lock horns against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 54th match of Vivo IPL 11 at home. They have already ensured their top two qualifications for the playoffs.

However, they will look to finishing the group stage on a high with a victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Hyderabad had played some superb cricket in the tournament so far. However, their defeat against Bangalore will surely give Kolkata the confidence of defeating them in a do-or-die clash.

Team opener, Shikhar Dhawan said he was looking forward to the last league game of the tournament. He added SRH would seek to win the final group match to finish at the top to pf the ladder. Taking to his Instagram handle, he wrote,

“Looking forward to playing our final league game today. A win will keep us on top of the table and that’s what we will aim to achieve #ipl2018 #SRHvKKR#orangearmy>.”

Consequences for both teams

For Hyderabad, the result of the match won’t have any bearing on their fortunes in the tournament. They have already made sure they get two shots at the final.

However, it is a different case with the Kolkata Knight Riders. It is a must-win encounter for them and any less than a victory will more or less knock them out of the tournament.

Bangalore and Mumbai have superior net run rates and a victory for each of them will mean both teams will go through to the playoffs. If that does happen, it will be a huge turnaround in the tournament.

Both Mumbai and Bangalore were languishing at the bottom of the points table and needed to win all their remaining matches at one point in time.

However, if Kolkata wins today, then anyone team from Mumbai and Bangalore will go through if they win their last encounters. We are almost into the last week of the tournament but are still unsure about the four teams who will go through to the playoffs.

It has been the best tournament so far, as no teams have taken the tournament by storm.
