Brendon McCullum was the surprise name on the released player’s list when RCB announced it on Thursday. McCullum has got the vast experience under his belt and also guided the youngsters in his previous stint with the franchise. Despite getting released, McCullum thanked the franchise and the skipper Virat Kohli.

Meanwhile, Brendon McCullum hasn’t fared well enough with his willow in IPL 2018. He was in the playing XI for only six times, where he averaged 21 to his name. Indeed, it would have made the franchise to take a tough call.

Brendon McCullum failed to show his magic:

Apart from the batting point of view, RCB got the selection wrong in the previous edition. They were unable to get the decent names on the bowling chart, which dent them dearly despite having the stunning batting lineup.

Coming to the topic, Brendon McCullum, in his tweet, thanked the skipper Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore for showing trust in him. Further, he wished them all the best for the upcoming season as well.

Digging into his tweet, it read ”Thanks to the skipper Virat Kohli and all the team RCB for an enjoyable time in last seasons IPL. All the best for the season ahead fellas.”

Meanwhile, RCB also thanked McCullum for sharing his valuable knowledge with the youngsters in the ranks. Further, they added saying the fans will always be faithful to him for his explosive batting in Chinnaswamy Stadium.

All in all, it is a pleasing sight to see the mutual respect between the players and the franchise. It would be interesting to see how Royal Challengers Bangalore would approach the upcoming IPL 2019 auctions.
