Delhi Capitals have done extremely well this season to make it to the playoffs. One of the most underachieving teams in the history of the IPL, Delhi Capitals exceeded all the expectations and defied all the odds to progress ahead of the group stage. This is the first time they have qualified for the playoffs after 2012. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will now be looking to make the most of it as they aim to bring an end to their trophy drought.

However, in their previous outing, the Delhi-based outfit received a timely reminder about the tough road ahead. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings routed them by 80 runs to make them aware of the big challenges ahead. After scoring a 179, Chennai Super Kings bowled out Delhi for just a paltry 99. One of the players that Delhi missed during the game was their pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada.

Super Kings scored 77 runs in the last five overs including 32 in the final two overs as Delhi missed the services of Rabada. Rabada is the leading wicket-taker this season, having picked up 25 wickets. However, their are now doubts over Rabada’s participation. The South Africa star missed the clash against Super Kings due to a back niggle and is currently undergoing a scan. He had complained about some discomfort after his most-recent outing against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.

ESPNCricinfo has now reported that Cricket South Africa is now contemplating the next course of action after receiving the scans from Delhi Capitals. With the World Cup less than a month away, there is little doubt that South Africa would not want to take any risk with their star pacer.  South Africa are already dealing with multiple niggles in their squad. They are also awaiting further news of the prognosis for Dale Steyn, who pulled out of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL campaign a week ago after his right shoulder flared up.
