The auction of the twelveth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in Jaipur on December 18 (Tuesday). However, there are only 70 slots available to end the auction for the next year IPL.  These 70 slots will be distributed with 50 Indians and 20 overseas players. However, it is understood that the auction will be a one-day affair.

Although, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given any official statement regarding the matter. The franchises have already been informed about the confirmation. The eight franchises are left with a total available purse of Rs 145.25 crore. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) need to fill only two spots (both Indians), and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has 15 slots available (11 Indians and four overseas). Moreover, the BCCI has not yet confirmed the venue for the next year’s cash-rich tournament. With the dates of the general elections yet to be announced, there is not much clarity. In addition to it, some of the franchises are preferring UAE over South Africa as the possible venue for IPL 2019. In their communication with the BCCI, they have cited time difference and logistical issues as the few reasons.
