Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered another defeat in this season after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stunned them on Friday night at M Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru). In the ongoing IPL 2019, RCB has played five matches and suffered defeats in all these matches.

After winning the toss, the visiting side KKR sent the host side RCB to bat first. In the first innings, the host side scored 205/3 (20 overs). During the chasing, the visiting side mostly struggled but still, they snatched an impressive victory, thanks to Andre Russell’s stormy batting in the end. KKR chased down that target in 19.1 overs after losing five wickets.

i) During this match, KKR successfully chased the 206-run target (206/5 in 19.1 overs). Previously, KKR never chased this much total. Their previous record was successfully chasing the 200-run target (200/7) against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Bengaluru on 1st June 2014.

i) During this match, Virat Kohli (8,067 runs) completed his 8,000 T20 runs. After Suresh Raina (8,110 runs), Virat Kohli was the second Indian batsman to score 8,000 or more T20 runs. Meanwhile, the right-handed batsman was the seventh overall cricketer, but the second fastest cricketer (according to the number of innings) to score 8,000 T20 runs. While Virat Kohli completed 8,000 T20 runs in 243 innings, Chris Gayle achieved this feat in 213 innings.

ii) Virat Kohli has scored 6,049 T20 runs in India. After Suresh Raina (in India), Virat Kohli became the second cricketer to complete 6,000 T20 runs in a country.

 

iii) Virat Kohli played his 63rd 50+ score in T20 career. Surpassing Brendon McCullum (62 times 50+ score in T20 career), the right-handed Indian batsman becomes the third most 50+ scorer in T20 career. Only Chris Gayle (98 times 50+ score in T20 career) and David Warner (72 times 50+ score in T20 career) are now ahead of Virat Kohli.

 

iv) During this match, AB de Villiers became the second most T20 run-scorer for RCB after surpassing Chris Gayle who scored 3,420 T20 runs for this team. By the end of this match, AB de Villiers has scored 3,469 T20 runs for RCB, and only Virat Kohli (5,534 runs) is ahead of him.

v) New Zealand pacer Tim Southee had the bowling figures of 4-0-61-0. It was the second joint most expensive bowling figures by an overseas bowler in IPL history. Meanwhile, it was also the second joint most expensive bowling figures by an RCB bowler.

KKR

i) During this match, Robin Uthappa completed 2,500 T20 runs for KKR as he has scored 2,513 T20 runs for this side. After the former KKR cricketer Gautam Gambhir (3,345 runs), Robin Uthappa became the second batsman to score 2,500+ T20 runs for this franchise.

ii) The Caribbean cricketer Andre Russell remained not out on 48 runs off just 13 balls with the strike-rate of 369.23. In IPL history, it was the second best strike-rate in an innings when the batsman faced at least 10 deliveries. The record strike-rate is 372.72 (41 runs off 11 balls) by AB de Villiers (RCB) against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Bengaluru on 19th April 2015.
