IPL 2019: Riyan Parag Becomes the Youngest to Score IPL Fifty

At 17 years and 175 days, Rajasthan Royals prodigy batsman Riyan Parag has become the youngest batsman to score a fifty in the IPL history. The youngster leapfrogged his teammate Sanju Samson’s record who had scored his first IPL fifty when he was 18 years and 169 days old. In fact, Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw had earlier equalled Sanju Samson record when he had also scored his first fifty in IPL 2018 at 18 years and 169 days.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals combative southpaw batsman Rishabh Pant had scored a fifty when he was 18 years and 212 days old. Furthermore, Shubman Gill had scored his maiden IPL fifty when he was 18 years and 237 days old.

On the other hand, Riyan Parag was the lone warrior for the Rajasthan Royals after his captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to bat first against Delhi Capitals. The visitors have posted 115-8 in the allotted 20 overs.

Meanwhile, the youngster once impressed with the bat as he completed his first fifty in 47 balls. The right-hander scored four fours and two sixes in his innings.

In fact, the youngster has impressed while playing in his maiden IPL season. The right-hander has thus far scored 160 runs in the five innings he has played for the inaugural champions. He has scored his runs with an average of 32 and has struck his runs at a strike rate of 126.98.

Furthermore, Riyan Parag had also played a match-winning knock of 47 runs from 31 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders earlier in the season. Moreover, the off-spinner has also scalped two wickets in the ongoing season.

Consequently, Riyan Parag is expected to the future of Indian cricket. Meanwhile, it is a must-win match for the Rajasthan Royals but they have posted only 115 runs on the board against Delhi Capitals at a slow and low pitch of Feroz Shah Kotla.
