The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been hit with a lot of controversies this year. Among all, Kings XI Punjab’s skipper mankading Rajasthan Royals Jos Buttler has garnered the most attention. Since then, Ashwin has tried various times to do the same but unfortunately has not succeded. The Kings XI Punjab skipper was at his task once again trying to mankad Wriddhiman Saha twice in the fifth over but failed miserably.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a flying start after Ravichandran Ashwin asked Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first after winning the toss. Both of the team made a flurry of changes going into the nail-biting clash. David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha – promoted to the top order started right at the fifth gear to post the highest powerplay score of the season. Warner cut loose first scoring 20 runs off the first two overs before Saha joined in.
The third over yielded them 15 runs off Arshdeep Singh to keep the free flow of runs. Saha then took his Bengal teammate Mohammed Shami for 18th runs to cross the fifty-run mark. The last over of the powerplay saw Ravichandran Ashwin trying to mankad Wriddhiman Saha twice in the fifth over. However, he failed miserably both times as Saha was well within his crease. Following that, umpire S Ravi also had a chat with the Punjab skipper.
With Ravichandran Ashwin making it a regular affair, one needs to certainly ponder over the spirit of the game. The event during the clash between Rajasthan and Punjab divided the cricketing world into two halves with one group saying it was well within the rule while others making it a point that it was against the spirit.
