IPL 2020, Final: Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals - DC Predicted XI

In the ultimate final of the IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Tuesday. Table-toppers MI, have defeated the second-placed Delhi Capitals twice in the league stage and then again in Qualifier 1. Delhi Capitals will have their morale boosted after a victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2.

Their major positive from Sunday’s game will be Marcus Stoinis scoring runs at the top, where DC has struggled for decent opening partnerships and Kagiso Rabada‘s three wicket-over in the death. Finally, Delhi Capitals is looking a team worthy of challenging Mumbai to clinch its maiden title.

Marcus Stoinis

Marcus Stoinis is one of the four Delhi players to play all the games this season. The big Australian has been their most consistent performer. He has won matches for Delhi Capitals with his late finishing and has provided vital contributions with the ball as well. The all-rounder was Man of the Match against SRH for outstanding contributions – 38 runs and three wickets. The right-hander has scored 352 runs at a strike rate of 149 in addition to his 12 wickets.

Shikhar Dhawan

After a few low scores, Shikhar Dhawan was back in form on Sunday. The opener scored 78 off 50 balls and put Delhi in a commanding position. The 34-year-old has made a comeback to the national T20 team on the back of his IPL performances. This season the left-hander has accumulated 603 runs at a strike rate of 145, including back-to-back hundreds.

Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane was selected to stay in the eleven over Prithvi Shaw due to the latter’s appalling form. Rahane didn’t get to bat as Delhi Capitals got off to a flier by the openers and then the power-hitters were promoted over him.

However, Ponting knows the strength of Mumbai’s bowling attack, especially with the new ball, which will keep Rahane in the team and bat him at number three if an early wicket falls. The right-hander scored a match-winning half-century in the last league game against Bangalore.

Shreyas Iyer

Shimron Hetmyer

While Dhawan and Stoinis built a solid foundation, it was Shimron Hetmyer who catapulted DC’s good total to almost insurmountable. The left-hander without wasting any time smashed 42 from 22 balls. After a poor season with the bat, the 23-year-old has vindicated his heavy price with one inning.

Rishabh Pant

The fact that Hetmyer, who was making a comeback in the team was sent ahead of Rishabh Pant against SRH speaks about the lost faith and confidence by Ponting in the wicket-keeper. Pant has had a terrible season, by his standards. His strike rate of 109 has been highly disturbing, and he lost his place in the national T20 squad as well. The 23-year-old will has an opportunity to shut his detractors.

Axar Patel

Axar has shown excellent control with the ball,, and he has been Delhi’s strength while bowling in the middle-overs throughout the season. The southpaw has an economy of 6.61- the best in the team. He has also provided balance to the side with his late-order batting. Against SRH when the opposition batsman was coming hard in a big run chase, Axar finished with figures of 1/33. If Ashwin is not fit to play in the final, Axar will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin is Delhi’s seniormost player in the absence of Amit Mishra. The off-spinner has been instrumental with the ball, in different phases of the innings. Ashwin has 13 wickets at an economy of 7.72.

Ashwin looked in discomfort against SRH. He bowled 3 overs and also left the field once. It will be a big jolt to DC if their senior spinner is unfit for the final. The other Indian options are Harshal Patel, Tushar Deshpande, and Mohit Sharma.

Kagiso Rabada

After a disheartening show in qualifier 1 against MI, Kagiso Rabada was back at his absolute best. In the nervy 19th over, where the game could have gone anywhere, Rabada ensured that it went Delhi’s way. The South-African picked three wickets in one over. He also castled David Warner in the second over of the chase. The pacer has got back the purple cap from Jasprit Bumrah and is two wickets clear of the MI speedster.

Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje is as fast as they come nowadays. Nortje has been a perfect second-fiddle to Rabada throughout the season. He has picked wickets in most of the matches he has played. The right-arm pacer has taken 20 wickets at an economy of 8.24. DC will hope for a better show in the final from its fast bowler than in Qualifier 2.

Praveen Dubey

Praveen Dubey has figures of 0/14 in 2 overs versus SRH. He might just keep his place, considering the other options for Delhi Capitals have all been expensive. Also, if Ashwin isn’t fit for the final, Dubey will have an important role with his leg-spin.
