Mumbai Indians’ (MI) hard-hitting all-rounder, Kieron Pollard humorously calls Krunal Pandya smarter than his brother Hardik Pandya. The three all-rounders have developed an affable bond while playing for Mumbai in the IPL.

The trio has been instrumental in Mumbai’s success in the last few years and this season as well, they have helped MI reach the final. Hardik and Pollard have a strike rate of 182 and 190 respectively this season, and Krunal has played handy cameos and chipped wickets with the ball.

Pollard shared a special camaraderie with the two Gujarat all-rounders. There have been times in the last few seasons, where either of the three has to benched, owing to lack of form or for the balance of the team. However, that hasn’t affected their friendship at all.

Kieron Pollard, in a video uploaded on Mumbai Indian’s official social media handle, said that Krunal is the smarter Pandya. He talked about the close relationship between the three on and off the field. The Trinidadian said that there share the same sentiments and always ready to help each other. Kieron Pollard says that they try and enjoy the moment and he is grateful for the opportunities he has got.

In a video uploaded on Mumbai’s Twitter handle, Kieron Pollard said, “As I always say there is Hardik Pandya and then there is the smarter Pandya (Krunal). For us the relationship that we have off the field, transcends onto the cricket field.

“We share some of the same sort of sentiments, the kind of people that we are in terms of just wanting to help, and just enjoying the moment and being thankful and grateful for whatever opportunities that is presented to us.”

The 33-year-old says that the Pandyas are cheerful and light-hearted people off the field. The big West Indian says praises the confidence which Hardik shows on the field, as he backs himself to clear the ropes for maximum.

Pollard feels it is very difficult to not like the two brothers because of their joyful nature. The burly right-hander also said that they do all the fun off the field, but on the ground, it’s all serious business and therefore they share mutual respect and common understanding.

“They (Pandya brothers) are more open and loud, but they are not like that just off the field, when they go on to the cricket field, the flair that they show, Hardik especially, that aspect of it, he goes out, backs himself, he is confident. So these are some of the things that we share in common. The way that they are, they are like good people. And you will find it very difficult not to like these individuals,” Kieron Pollard added.

“When it’s off, it’s fun, it’s all games but when it is time for business and serious talks as well, we have that, so that sort of mutual respect, and that common understanding, goes a long way,” he concluded.

Mumbai is through to their second consecutive final. They will face the winner of Qualifier 2 between Hyderabad and Delhi. The final is scheduled for Tuesday in Dubai.
