IPL 2020 Match 16: Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders: Weather Forecast

The 16th game of the Dream11 IPL 2020 will see Delhi Capitals lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

There have been two games played in Sharjah thus far and given the flat nature of the pitch and short [very short] boundaries, we have had absolute run fests in both of them. Each of the four teams that have batted at Sharjah have scored in excess of 200, While in the first match, a total of 416 runs were scored across 40 overs, the second game saw Rajasthan Royals gun down the highest-ever total in the history of the IPL, breaking their own record of 2008.

This will be the first time that Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders will play a game in Sharjah and given the conditions and the presence of power-hitters in both sides’, one can expect another game where bowlers would be reduced to a mere bowling machine, with bat dominating the ball throughout the 40 overs.

Delhi Capitals should enjoy batting in Sharjah, considering the fact their batsmen like true batting tracks where they can hit across the line. The Capitals struggled in the last game against SunRisers Hyderabad [SRH] as their batsmen failed to apply themselves on a two-paced track, thus paving way for their two-match winning streak to get snapped.

It wouldn’t be all that hunky-dory though against a Kolkata Knight Riders pace-attack, which is coming off a dominant display in the last game against Rajasthan Royals. The likes of Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti were outstanding in the last game and DC will hope that their opening duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw counter their threat in the powerplay and lay the platform for their power-packed middle-order.

As far as Kolkata Knight Riders is concerned, it will be interesting to see if they continue with the punt of sending Sunil Narine as an opener. Narine has struggled against top-quality pace bowling in the IPL thus far and the calls for KKR to play a regular opener at the top alongside Shubman Gill are getting louder with every passing game. It will also be interesting to see how they manage their batting order against DC. Will Dinesh Karthik continue to bat higher up in the order or will he embrace the role of finisher, as he has done in the past?
