Chennai Super Kings could not have asked for a tougher start to their campaign in IPL 2020. The MS Dhoni-led side are opening their campaign against their bogey team Mumbai Indians. The three-time winners have struggled to beat the Rohit Sharma-led side in recent years.

Mumbai Indians are the only side that has won more matches than they have lost against CSK. Last year, Mumbai Indians had defeated CSK thrice including in the final. As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, it is 17-11 in the favour of the Mumbai-based franchise.

But despite the struggles, MS Dhoni has made it clear that revenge is not at all on his mind this season. Speaking at the toss ahead of the tournament-opener, the CSK skipper came up with a brilliant reply when the commentator asked him whether he has revenge on his mind.

“Being a gentleman’s game you don’t think about revenge (against MI). You think about the mistakes you made,” said MS Dhoni after winning the toss and deciding to bowl first.

MS Dhoni also lavished praise on his teammates for the way the way they handed the difficult quarantine period. While the others teams were quarantined for six days, CSK had to remain in quarantine for 14 days after 13 members of their camp tested positive for the coronavirus.

“Have to applaud every member of the squad. First six days in quarantine is very difficult. Felt each individual used that time well and nobody was disappointed or frustrated. The practice facilities were very good. After the first 14 days it was nice to get out,” he said.

CSK did suffer a number of setbacks after arriving in UAE. Apart from their members testing positive for the dreaded virus, two of their senior players – Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh – also pulled out of the competition citing personal reasons.
