MS Dhoni has been on a sabbatical ever since India lost the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinals at the hands of New Zealand. In the following months, the former Indian skipper has missed all of the series for the national team. This has created a huge confusion regarding Dhoni’s future as an international cricketer.

It has been a long time since the world last saw the 38-year-old take to the field. Recently, he was excluded from BCCI’s contract list which all but confirmed that team India have indeed moved on from Dhoni.

However, for the fans, there has been some hope regarding his comeback into the national team, on the back of a strong Indian Premier League(IPL) season. He was recently seen hitting the nets in his hometown of Ranchi, and Dhoni is in line to make his imminent return on the 22 yards, after a long time.

He will be seen leading the Chennai Super Kings(CSK) yet again, a team he has led to three IPL titles, in eight finals, with the most recent one coming in 2018.

Nonetheless, ‘Thala’ as he is fondly called by CSK fans, will start training soon to regain his touch ahead of a crucial IPL season in terms of his future.

“He is expected to arrive on March 1. He will probably train for a couple of weeks before going back for 4-5 days and then coming back once again closer to the start of the IPL,” Times of India quoted sources close to the development as saying.

The sources further added, “Raina and Rayudu had been training here for the last three weeks. They are going back and then joining again on March 2. Players who are available at that time will also join. The official camp starts from March 10.”

IPL 2020 begins from 29th March, and this will be the first time when the 38-year-old will begin preparations for the cricket carnival so early. CSK fans are expected to flock to the Chepauk stadium to witness the return of Dhoni in the famous yellow jersey.
