Rajasthan Royals have added one more key weapon to their arsenal on Thursday as they have roped in New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi as their new spin consultant for the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. The 27-year-old leggie was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in the 2018 and 2019 season before being released ahead of the IPL auction.
Ahead of the auction, the bowler Ish Sodhi set his base price at INR 75 lakhs but unfortunately, he didn’t inspire any bidder and went unsold in the auction. But now he has joined the inaugural IPL champions as a spin consultant and will be looking forward to a new chapter.
As part of his role with Rajasthan Royals, Ish Sodhi will be joining hands with bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule and Chief Operating Officer Jake Lush McCrum. Ish Sodhi has plied his trade for Royals in two seasons, playing 8 IPL matches and taking 9 wickets at an economy rate of 6.69.

After the franchise announced their signing of Ish Sodhi as spin consultant, New Zealand spinner said that he developed a great deal of understanding with all the people and hence it was so easy for him to accept the job offered by the franchise. He also highlighted that he wants to help Royals win the IPL this time around.
“Having played for two seasons for the Royals, I have formed a great level of understanding with all the people involved with the franchise, and they have always been very supportive of me. Therefore, I did not have to think twice when this opportunity was offered to me by the Royals’ management. I love this franchise and want to help us win the IPL this year,” Sodhi was quoted as saying by PTI.
