Delhi Capitals are one of the best-performing sides so far and are second in the IPL 2020 points table. Delhi Capitals have accumulated four victories so far with the latest one coming against Royal Challengers Bangalore, beating them comprehensively by 59 runs. The Capitals have also got one of the best bowling units in the tournament.

They will face Rajasthan Royals in their sixth game of IPL 2020 in Sharjah, a venue that will likely produce another high-scoring game. In Sharjah, Rajasthan Royals have remained undefeated so far while Delhi Capitals have also beat Kolkata Knight Riders in their only match in this season in Sharjah. However, the Capitals, who have all their bases covered and riding high on confidence, will start as favourites.

We take a look at Delhi Capitals’ predicted XI ahead of their IPL 2020 game against Rajasthan Royals:

Prithvi Shaw:

Prithvi Shaw has been in a scintillating form this season and gave the Delhi Capitals brisk starts. Prithvi Shaw has amassed two half-centuries so far and smashed 42 off only 23 deliveries against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai. The right-handed batsman will indeed fancy his chances against Rajasthan Royals’ bowling attack in the short boundaries in Sharjah.

Shikhar Dhawan:

Shikhar Dhawan might not have telling scores in the tournament so far; however, has done his job to great effect. The southpaw has played a significant role in providing flying starts to the Capitals and form a platform for the rest of the batsmen. Dhawan hammered 32 off 28 deliveries against RCB, laced with three boundaries.

Shreyas Iyer(c):

Shreyas Iyer was the man of the match in Sharjah against KKR, having clubbed unbeaten 88 to guide his side to 228. However, he could not get going against RCB as Devdutt Padikkal claimed a brilliant catch when the skipper tried to clear the fence. Iyer managed only 11 runs; however, received praises for his aggressive captaincy.

Rishabh Pant (wk):

Similar to how Rishabh Pant played a whirlwind knock against KKR at the back end in Sharjah, he did the same against RCB. Rishabh Pant smashed 37 off 25 balls, containing three fours and two sixes and shared a stand of 89 along with Marcus Stoinis. He lost his wicket in the 19th over to Mohammed Siraj.

Marcus Stoinis:

Marcus Stoinis scored the second fifty of IPL 2020 and was the top run-scorer for Delhi Capitals against RCB. Marcus Stoinis clobbered 53 off only 26 deliveries and turned the game almost entirely in favour of his side. Stoinis’ unbeaten knock comprised of six fours and three sixes and was not needed to bowl against the Royal Challengers.

Shimron Hetmyer:

Shimron Hetmyer has received the role of the finisher for Delhi Capitals and often goes after the bowling from the get-go. Shimron Hetmyer faced only seven deliveries against RCB and cleared the fence once to end unbeaten on 11. It could be likely that Alex Carey comes instead of Hetmyer when the Capitals qualify for playoffs.

Axar Patel:

Axar Patel is the most economical bowler of IPL 2020 so far and earned the man of the match award against RCB. Axar Patel stood head and shoulders above the rest, finishing with figures of 4-0-18-2 and conceded only one boundary. The left-arm spinner claimed the wickets of Aaron Finch and Moeen Ali.

Ravichandran Ashwin:

Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed the spotlight against RCB, sparing Aaron Finch from Mankading. Meanwhile, the off-spinner delivered an economical spell, ending with figures of 4-0-26-1, snaring the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal. It would be interesting to see how he copes up in Sharjah against the short boundaries.

Kagiso Rabada:

Axar Patel might have secured the man of the match award; however, Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers against RCB. Kagiso Rabada ended the match with bowling figures of 4-0-24-4, dismissing Virat Kohli, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, and Isuru Udana. The South African speedster would be aiming to correct his figures in Sharjah from the match against KKR.

Anrich Nortje:

Having replaced Chris Woakes in Delhi Capitals, Anrich Nortje has performed outstandingly. Anrich Nortje was the most economical amongst the pacers against RCB, finishing with figures of 4-0-22-2. Nortje claimed the wickets of AB De Villiers and Mohammed Siraj to dent their chase.

Harshal Patel:

Harshal Patel played his first match of IPL 2020 against Kolkata in Sharjah and picked up two wickets and proved economical too. In contrast, Harshal Patel was the most expensive bowler against RCB in Duba, conceding 43 runs in four overs without any wickets. Nevertheless, he will retain his place for the match against the Royals.
