Sanju Samson has started his campaign in IPL 2020 in a stunning fashion by playing a whirlwind knock against Chennai Super Kings. The Rajasthan Royals star slammed 74 off just 32 deliveries before being sent back by Lungi Ngidi. His breathtaking knock was studded with nine fours and a six.

He reached his fifty off just 19 balls as he took almost all the CSK bowlers to the cleaners in Sharjah. The carnage started from the fifth over after Royals managed to score only 26 runs from their first four overs. Sanju Samson got into his grooves by dispatching Sam Curran for a six and four in the fifth over before hitting Deepak Chahar for another maximum in the sixth over.

The Royals star slammed Ravindra Jadeja for two sixes in the following over. In the eighth over, MS Dhoni introduced Piyush Chawla in the attack but it didn’t make any difference either. The leg-spinner was hit for 4 sixes by the right-handed batsman.

The Kerala star hit three more sixes before Lungi Ngidi dismissed him to give some much-needed respite to CSK. As Sanju Samson was taking the bowlers to the cleaners, the cricket fraternity took to social media to lavish praise on him. And legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar could not control himself either.

The former India batsman took to Twitter to praise Sanju Samson’s shot making and also had a word of praise for Ngidi.

“Clean striking by @IamSanjuSamson. They were all proper cricketing shots and not slogs. Smartly bowled by @NgidiLungi. Short, wide and slow. “

Meanwhile, Royals had raced away to 173 for 6 after 17 overs at the time of compiling this report.
