After four consecutive failures, Shane Watson finally roared back to form on Sunday during the clash against Kings XI Punjab. The Chennai Super Kings scored an unbeaten fifty to help his side crush Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets and move up from the bottom of the points table.
Shane Watson had started his campaign in IPL 2020 in a disappointing manner. In the tournament-opener against defending champions Mumbai Indians, he was out for just 4 although CSK had gone on to win the game. In the following three games against Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, he scored 33 and 14 and 1 respectively. CSK ended up losing all the three games while chasing.
But on Sunday, Shane Watson made amends for his poor display by scoring an unbeaten 83 off 53 balls as CSK chased down the 179-run target with more than two overs remaining and all the ten wickets intact. He and his opening partner Faf du Plessis (87*) shared an unbeaten partnership of 181 runs runs
Old tweet goes viral:
Soon after Shane Watson powered CSK to the comprehensive win, one of his tweets before the game went viral. Before the start of the match, the Australian allrounder had told his fans that the ‘perfect game’ for CSK is coming and one can say that he was not lying.
He had tweeted it on the eve of the clash against KXIP. Soon after the game ended, the fans bombarded the comment section of the tweet, lavishing praise on the allrounder for his stunning performance.
Here is the tweet:
CSK now have two days to rest before they take on fourth-placed Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (October 7). Unlike CSK, KKR will be playing the game on the back of a defeat.
