Delhi Capitals all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis believes that it is a great opportunity for the team to end the title drought of the Delhi franchise. Stoinis says they have to play a fearless brand of cricket in order to make it to the final.

Stoinis is one of the few players in the DC team who has been consistent throughout the tournament. He has made match-winning contributions with the bat and the ball. The right-hander has scored 314 runs at a strike rate of 150 and picked up 9 wickets.

The Capitals are having a torrid second half of the season. They were embarrassed by Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 1 by a 57 run margin. The Shreyas Iyer-led outfit has another chance to reach the final as they face a rampant Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Sunday in Abu Dhabi.

Ahead of their clash with SRH, Marcus Stoinis has called for the team to play fearless cricket. He believes that even the good teams have highs and lows in a long tournament like the IPL. The Australian said that his team is happy with finishing second on the points table, as it gives them an extra chance to get in the final after losing the qualifier.

The 31-year-old is motivated to win a maiden IPL trophy for the Delhi franchise which would end their 12 season drought. He feels this is what every cricketer plays for – to win big competitions like the IPL.

As quoted by the PTI, Marcus Stoinis said, “I think we’re going well. We’ve got to play some fearless cricket, and it’s a great opportunity for us. In these long tournaments, there’s a good chance most teams are going to go through those ebbs and flows.

“If you gave me this opportunity at the start of the season — that we’d finish second, and we’ve got one game to win to get into the final, I think everyone here would take that.

“The thought of some silverware, and a trophy for the Delhi Capitals’ franchise is all the motivation we need. This is what every professional cricketer plays for — to win big competitions like the IPL. So motivation is always there,” Stoinis added.

Talking about the opposition, Marcus Stoinis opined that SRH is a dangerous team and is in good form. The all-rounder feels that Rashid Khan is a major threat with the ball for his team along with the likes of David Warner and Kane Williamson.

“They’re a strong team, and have got some really good batters, some in-form players, some dangerous bowlers as well, so it’s going to be a good game.

“I think Rashid Khan is obviously a great bowler – everyone knows that. He’s going to be dangerous and important for them. You’ve got David Warner and then Kane Williamson, who has been really organised and has steadied the ship for them a few times,” the all-rounder Marcus Stoinis stated.
