Rajasthan Royals fast bowler, Varun Aaron believes that the Indian pacers have played a decent second fiddle to star bowler Jofra Archer. Archer has been in sensational form in IPL 2020, picking up 17 wickets in 12 matches at an economy of 6.71. The Royals are coming off a massive victory over table leaders Mumbai Indians courtesy of a magnificent Ben Stokes hundred.

However, there have been questions over leaking runs and lack of penetration from the other end. Amongst Indian pacers, Rajasthan has used Jaydev Unadkat, Kartik Tyagi, Ankit Rajpoot, and Varun Aaron this season, but none have given any noteworthy performance. Not only they have failed to make an impact by taking wickets, but also have been expensive, which has costed the Royals.

I feel that our pacers have done well: Varun Aaron

Varun Aaron believes that as a team, they have bowled well. He says that in T20 cricket sometimes the bowler will go for runs and thinks that their Indian pacers have done well in supporting their strike bowler, Jofra Archer. He feels that luck hasn’t been on their side.

Varun Aaron in an official release issued by RR said, “I think we have bowled well overall, this is T20 cricket and there are these patches wherein bowlers go for runs. I feel that our pacers have done well, certain things did not go our way where we were unlucky but I feel JD, Tyagi, and Rajpoot have done well in supporting Archer.”

Varun Aaron, who has played just a solitary game this season, knows that the next two games are must-win for Rajasthan to remain in contention for a spot in the playoffs. He is confident that his team will give their best to win their next two matches.

“The next two games are must win for us to be able to secure the playoffs berth and I am sure our team will put up the best show to be able to achieve that spot,” he added.

Rajasthan Royals will next face Kings XI Punjab on Friday in Abu Dhabi. Rajasthan sits at the 7th spot with 10 points, and Punjab has 12 points.
