Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders had a highly promising team with all their bases covered but had very little in terms of results as they could not arrest the inconsistencies. The most striking moment in their campaign when the franchise announced a change in captaincy midway through the tournament. The Knight Riders picked Eoin Morgan to lead the side, ousting Dinesh Karthik, who had not done poorly as captain.
Eoin Morgan earned admirations for doing his job as skipper well enough; however, the results were not enough to carry them to the playoffs. But the two-time champions have selected the English limited-overs captain to lead the side in IPL 2021 too and hope for consistency from their side. The Knight Riders’ find of the tournament was leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who bamboozled the oppositions through his uncanny variations. He collected 17 scalps at 20.94, keeping an economy rate of 6.85 alongside a fifer.
