Delhi Capitals reached their first IPL final in the 2020 edition of the extravaganza in what was their best edition in 13 seasons. Delhi Capitals was perhaps the most consistent of the eight teams in the first half of the thirteenth season and not only had the most experienced players but also ones who had exceptional game awareness. Mumbai Indians beat them convincingly in the final in Dubai.
The finalists of the 2020 edition have kept the majority of their Indian core, including their captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ajinkya Rahane. The Capitals also decided to retain their pace-bowling spearhead or pair of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. The Proteas’ fast bowling duo shared 52 wickets between them. On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan’s form was a massive plus with 618 runs and two consecutive tons.
