One of the biggest talking points of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) is a stunning form of Mahendra Singh Dhoni with the bat.

Before the start of the tournament, Dhoni’s image as finisher had taken a beating. The former India skipper was not batting in the way that had made him one of the most dangerous batsmen on the planet a few years ago.

However, the 36-year old Dhoni has turned back the clock with some scintillating hitting in the ongoing edition of IPL 2018.

In fact, the Chennai Super Kings skipper is having the best IPL season of his life. He is not only winning games for his side almost single-handedly but is also showing unparalleled consistency.

So far, Dhoni has scored 329 runs at a strike rate of 169.58 and an average of over 83. He is currently fourth in the list of highest run-scorers this season.

“The way he was batting in those years, 2008, ’09 and ’10, I think history is repeating itself. The shots that he is playing, the way he is going out and expressing himself, I think it’s phenomenal. Vintage MS Dhoni, I would like to call it,” he told Cricbuzz.

Badrinath further said that a change in technique is not the reason behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s success this season.

Instead, Badrinath believes the star batsman has entered this season with a changed mindset.

“I don’t think anything has changed with regards to his game, or shots, or his ability to strike the ball which we have all seen before, but his mindset. “I think he is in a whole new different zone,” he concludes.
