Mumbai Indians (MI) finally returned to winning ways after a comfortable victory in the end by eight wickets against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at latter’s adopted home venue in Pune on Saturday (April 28).
It was a brilliant innings from skipper Rohit Sharma which helped the visitors chase the total down of 170 in 19.4 overs.
Although Chennai bowlers took the match to the wire, it was always going to be tough for them given the fact that Mumbai had an advantage of wickets in hand, for the majority of the run chase.
Earlier in the day, it was a brilliant innings of 75 runs by Suresh Raina which propelled Chennai to a competitive score of 169 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

The southpaw Raina played splendid innings to steady CSK’s ship. Ambati Rayudu, the holder of the orange cap also scored a fluent 46 which included a couple of fours and four sixes.
Despite Chennai smashing the four and sixes quite well in the first 10-12 overs, the Mumbai bowlers made a strong comeback in the last 7 overs which proved to be instrumental in restricting Chennai to a manageable total.
Mumbai was in a desperate need for victory. They had only won a solitary match ahead of this encounter.
However, the victory against a team in form will surely give them confidence as the tournament progresses.

Chasing the total, it was Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis who walked out in the middle. The former in particular began with a few crisp drives. He continued his good run and took the attack to the Chennai.
However, it was Harbhajan Singh who brought about an end to his innings. It was not a great delivery under any stress of imagination.

Moreover, Suryakumar failed to time it well. Jadeja, who was standing at the long on boundary covered a lot of ground and completed a sensational running catch.
Ravindra Jadeja is India’s best fielder and the catch yet again proved that why he is among the very best. He arguably has the fastest arm from the outfield in the cricketing world.
