IPL 2018: KKR Has a Strong Core For Next 5-7 Years - Robin Uthappa

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Mr. Consistent Robin Uthappa has admitted that his team have had availed a strong core for the upcoming 5-7 years.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing league, KKR is currently at the third spot with five wins from nine games owing to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 points table.

With the team picking up at the right time, Kolkata looks to be in line for the playoff stage.

Moreover, they will look to strengthen their case when they face Mumbai Indians on Sunday (May) 6 at the Wankhede Stadium.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are on the verge of elimination and will be desperate for the two crucial points.

On the eve of the game, Uthappa spilled beans on many topics while talking to his team’s own website.

Talking about giving up the glovework, Uthappa admitted that he is enjoying fielding.

The experienced batsman Uthappa also added that fielding gives you more opportunities to remain involved in the game.

I am loving it. I absolutely love fielding. It’s a lot of fun. You are involved in the game so much more. You are running and also trying to help out the bowler as much as you can. With every ball, you are in in the game. It’s not like you are not when you are keeping. But you know, you are always in the move, which I enjoy completely,” Uthappa said.

The prolific run-scorer Uthappa also revealed that IPL, over the years, subsequently became more dynamic. However, he admits that it is just the beginning and it will change over the years.

I think it’s the way cricket is moving right now. If you look at it. It is becoming a sport that is more dynamic, that is more power-oriented. Cricket has changed from the time I started playing the IPL to where it is today. It has changed tremendously,” Uthappa added.

KKR has a strong core for 5-7 years

Meanwhile, the Kolkata set up has focussed on more youngsters at this year’s two-day mega-auction.

However, Robin Uthappa feels Kolkata has a strong core which could live a strong impact in the foreseeable future.

When you look at it today, it looks like a young side. But, I think we have got a side that can hold strong core for the next 5-7 years easily. So for me, I think that is commendable to have that kind of side. It’s commendable to have decision maker to have such setup,” he concluded.
