The emergence of Afghanistan in the International cricket is the most fruitful one of this generation. It is great to have one more team blazing their way to dictating terms in the International cricket. Meanwhile, the coach, Phil Simmons spoke about Afghanistan and the Indian Premier League (IPL).

We came across Afghanistan stars rising in the International cricket and bagging the lucrative contracts in the domestic professional Twenty20 league. Speaking of the same, the coach wants a batsman to feature in the IPL in a bid to shine on the big stage.

The coach reiterated they want to see a batsman making the things happen for an IPL franchise. He added that they are happy to have their bowlers and all-rounders playing in the IPL. Afghanistan Cricket Board would be delighted with the positives.

Now, Afghanistan wants their batsman to make their mark in the celebrated tournament. Simmons actively asks the batsmen to match up the skills of the bowling department to push the Afghanistan Cricket to certain heights.

”Bowlers are our strength and now we’ve been working very hard in trying to get the batsmen to understand that they have to [rise up and] meet the bowlers, the bowlers are not going to come down. They have to meet the bowlers. Even in the Test match, that was one of the big things. The batting has to get up there to where the bowlers are,” Simmons stated.

”We want to have a batsman in the IPL for instance rather than three or two bowlers and an all-rounder. Although Rashid will tell me he’s an all-rounder. That’s the big focus now, making sure our batting tries to get up to the level of the bowlers,” he added to his lines.

However, as Windies Phil Simmons hoped, it would be interesting to see how Afghanistan batsman come through the ranks. Thankfully, they have got the required goods in their batting department which needs a bit of nurturing before impressing the IPL franchises.
