The 2020 edition of the IPL is all set to take place in the United Arab Emirates. The ICC recently postponed the T20 World Cup, paving way for a clear window for the cash-rich league to take place between September 26-November 07.

The IPL Governing Council will be meeting within the next ten days to finalize all the details of the tournament. With the IPL taking place in the UAE, we thought why not zero in on the franchises who might actually benefit from the change in venue.

Here’s a look at IPL teams that could benefit from the change in venue from India to the UAE:

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals may actually benefit from moving from playing on sluggish surfaces of the Arun Jaitley Stadium to batting on the truer surfaces of the Emirates.

The Ricky Ponting-coaches outfit boasts of spin bashers like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Shimron Hetmyer who like the ball coming onto the bat, which they will most likely get in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Also, the Capitals boast of quality spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra Sandeep Lamichhane, Axar Patel which could prove to be a handful on big grounds of the UAE. Keemo Paul, with his cutters, could also prove to be more than a handful.

Chennai Super Kings

You’ll turn around and say, “Does it even matter where the three-time IPL champions CSK play as long as they have MS Dhoni at the helm?”

Well! No. They don’t. But, still who doesn’t love a bit of advantage in terms of playing conditions. Chennai’s attack is based around their spin bowlers like Imran Tahir, Piyush Chawla, Mitchell Santner, Karn Sharma, rookie R Sai Kishore, who will relish bowling on big grounds of the UAE.

The ball tends to a bit under lights at venues like Abu Dhabi and the likes of Deepak Chahar, Sam Curran could prove to be real handy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s success over the years in the IPL has been build around putting runs on the board and strangulating the opposition with the skillful bowling attack.

The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul could be real handy with their plethora of variations including the knuckle-ball coupled with their ability to move the ball- which generally tends to happen under lights in the UAE- could prove to pretty lethal for the Orange Army

Add the spin-duo of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi to the pace-attack, and you may be looking at probably the most potent attack for the conditions in the UAE.
