Irfan Pathan and Yuvraj Singh Share a Wonderful Time Together

Updated - 23 Jul 2018, 10:11 AM

Irfan Pathan and Yuvraj Singh is nowhere on the radar for international selection at the moment. However, both of them were the pillars of the national team once upon a time. They were great buddies both on and off the field. There is no doubt about the fact that both the players have passed their prime and is in the twilight of their careers. However, it was very recently that all-rounder Irfan Pathan stated that he still hopes of making a comeback to the national team and he is working very hard to achieve the feat.

It will be a huge task for Irfan especially given the fact that the team is a balanced one. The left-arm swing bowler has failed to replicate his performances which helped him make a name for himself just after bursting onto the scene in 2004. He bowled some sensational deliveries in his debut tour. Irfan then went onto become the first Indian pacer to bag a Test hat-trick.

Irfan went off the radar under Greg Chappell

He was a handy lower order batsman. Under the tenure of Greg Chappell, he was sent up the order on regular occasions. Critics believe that the workload had a great effect on Irfan which eventually put his career off the line. He played in patches but has never been able to do the work consistently. On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh is perhaps the most stylish batsmen I have seen ever since understanding cricket.

He has been a champion player for India over the years. Yuvraj was awarded the man of the Tournament Award in the 2011 World Cup. His all-round heroics helped India win the title in the end. He made a stunning comeback last year. He notched up his highest individual score in ODI’s against England. The southpaw scored 151. However, as time flew by his form just kept coming down considerably. He was eventually dropped from the squad after the bilateral series against Windies last year.

The Moment

Yuvraj and Irfan met after a long time and was seen enjoying their time to their heart’s content. Irfan Pathan shared a picture with Yuvraj with a beautiful caption. “Always fun, laughter and some amazing Indian team Stories comes up whenever I meet my brother @YUVSTRONG12 #truefighter #champion #friendship.”
