Rishabh Pant found it difficult to establish himself as India’s first-choice wicketkeeper. Before the captain and coach can exhibit their trust in him, he must first go through the grind.

Due to errors he made behind the wickets or with the bat in hand, he was occasionally left out of the set-up. He, on the other hand, would never give up.

He made a splash upon his return and helped his team make history in the Test series against Australia, even though more than half of the squad was injured. Since then, Rishabh Pant’s admirers and critics have seen a newer and better side of him.

Pant believes he has improved as a wicketkeeper as a result of the transformation he has gone through over the last 2-to to 3 years. “One pleasant part has been my wicketkeeping,” he stated in an interview with ‘The Week.’

That was something I wanted to do (improve). “Oh, you’ve changed as a wicketkeeper, you’ve progressed a lot in the last two years,” people remark. That’s exactly what I needed to hear. I’ve been working on this for the past two to three years, but changing people’s perceptions in India takes time. One of my key objectives was to achieve this.”

Pant has also put in a lot of practice on his batting. He stated that he is enjoying his surroundings and is simply following the route he has set for himself.

“With my batting, I’m in a good place.” I’m not too concerned about what I’ve done or what I’ll do. “I’m just trusting my method and sticking to the route I’ve carved out for myself,” he explained.

As one of Team India’s younger players, he has benefited from the guidance of captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid. Pant went on to say how the to dup is assisting him in learning and growing with each passing day.

“As a cricketer, if you perform well, you can cement your spot in the team.” At the same time, the captain and coach assist you in improving your cognitive process as a player.

I had these brief discussions with Rahul and Rohit about what they wanted me to do for the Indian team. “Every day, I want to learn and grow. If you want to progress, you must work hard every day—that is the slogan I live by,” he continued.
