James Anderson, England fast bowler, will address the media on Monday following growing speculations that he might announce his retirement from international cricket, according to a report published in Daily Mail UK.

Anderson has claimed just six wickets in the three Tests that he has played this summer and the speculation is rife that England might rest him for the 2nd Test at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

England have added Sussex fast bowler Ollie Robinson to their squad for the remainder of the Test series while Ben Stokes will miss the remaining two Test due to family reasons.

Meanwhile, former England captain Nasser Hussain has reckoned that the home side should play Chris Woakes in place of James Anderson in the second Test.

Woakes claimed four wickets across two innings before scoring an unbeaten 84 to help England chase down 277 in the fourth innings.

“If Ben Stokes is fit to bowl then England have got some tough selections decisions to make ahead of the second Test and, I think this is the first time I have said this in my career as a broadcaster, I would have Woakes in the side ahead of James Anderson,” Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports.

“Before this game I had Anderson ahead of Woakes but I think the way Woakes has played in this game, he has out-bowled Anderson and he’s obviously out-batted Anderson so he has the edge. If Woakes is fit, he plays. Stuart Broad plays and Dom Bess plays. I’ve always said, have two English type seamers – so I’d probably go Broad and Woakes – and then one tearaway. So that is between Jofra Archer and Mark Wood.” he added.

The second Test between England and Pakistan will kickstart on Thursday, August 13.
