Paceman James Anderson has become only the seventh England bowlers to breach 900 points mark in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings following England an win over India in the second Test at Lord’s.

Meanwhile, Anderson was spectacular as he guided his side to a win by an innings and 159 runs. As a result, they went 2-0 up in the five-match Test series. Top-ranked Anderson now leads second-placed South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada by 21 points in the bowlers’ list.

Anderson returned with spectacular match figures of 9 for 43 single-handedly demolishing the Indian batting. Thus, he joins a select group comprising Sydney Barnes (932), George Lohmann (931), Tony Lock (912), Ian Botham (911), Derek Underwood (907) and Alec Bedser (903), all of whom peaked at over 900 points during their careers.

Man-of-the-match Chris Woakes also made prominent moves in the latest ICC Test Player Rankings. Woakes’ splendid century and useful bowling efforts see him move up all three charts – for batsmen, bowlers, and all-rounders.

Virat Kohli drops to the second spot in ICC Test Player Rankings

India skipper Virat Kohli, who crawled the top position for batsmen just over a week ago, has conceded his place after struggling to lift his team at Lord’s. The India captain registered 23 and 17 even as his side rattled for 107 and 130.

The low scores and poor performances saw Indian players drop down in the ranking list with Ravichandran Ashwin the only exception. Ashwin moved 10 places to be in the 57th spot in the batsmen list. Furthermore, he leap-frogged South Africa’s Vernon Philander to be the third best all-rounder.

In conclusion, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has moved up 25 places to take the 74th spot among bowlers.
