England’s opening batsman in the limited-overs format, Jason Roy expressed his embarrassment and was quite apologetic after ruling himself out of a crucial T20 County match for his team Surrey after bouncing a bat into his face.
Roy who is a prolific run-getter in the One day and the T20I level is one of the most important players for his county. However, he will be missing Friday’s clash against Glamorgan after the stupid act.
Jason Roy got dismissed on the very first ball against Hampshire on Wednesday. He reacted angrily and smashed his bat on the ground. It rebounded off it and hit him straight in the face. It ruled him out of the all-important clash against Glamorgan on Friday. Roy was forced to reveal the unfortunate incident, as the injury forces him to miss the trip to Cardiff on Friday.
“I am really disappointed to be missing out on the game. Following my dismissal on Wednesday evening, I threw my bat into the ground purely out of self-frustration. It bounced, hit me and, as a result, I sustained the injury,” he said.

Jason Roy embarrassment
“I’m extremely embarrassed and apologetic to my team-mates and fans for this moment of stupidity. I want to apologise to Surrey as a club and all the members. I’ve never been so motivated and so positive about my game, and I assure you I will learn from my mistake as I am my own biggest critic,” Roy further added.
Jason Roy looked in great touch during the limited-overs series against Australia and India. Against the Aussies in particular, Roy was simply at his imperious best and smashed a couple of stunning hundreds.
Even against India, he looked in great touch all through the six matches. However, he was not able to convert his starts into big ones. He will rue the stupid act which ruled him out of the important clash.
