Fast bowlers have graced the game of cricket over the years. Be it Malcolm Marshall, Courtney Ambrose, Wasim Akram, Dennis Lille, Waqar Younis or Shoaib Akhtar – international cricket has seen some of the finest. With premier India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah dominating the current era.

Bumrah made lightwork of Delhi Capitals batsmen in the IPL 2020 Qualifier 1 on Thursday. He has also been the fast bowling spearhead for India. England fast bowler Jofra Archer has also been exceptional and proved his mettle in the early days of his career. He has also been leading the pack for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

Bumrah and Archer could stand up and be counted in any era: Brian Lara

West Indies legend Brian Lara who is a part of the official broadcasters panel in IPL has rated Bumrah and Archer highly. He said that these two could stand up and be counted in any era of cricket whether they were playing in the 2000s, 90s, 80s or even in the 70s – they would have been among the best.

“I can only say this: Bumrah and Archer could stand up and be counted in any era of cricket. Whether they were playing in the 2000s, 90s, 80s or even the 70s, they would be up there. And I am not belittling anyone from the past.

But these two would be in the echelons of fast bowling in any era I have watched, played in, or am still watching,” Brian Lara told Hindustan Times.

While the IPL 2020 season for Archer with Rajasthan Royals did not pan out to be the best, Bumrah will continue to lead Mumbai Indians in the final of the lucrative tournament. Mumbai Indians will be vying for their fifth title in the tournament.
