Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has broken into ICC’s top ten rankings of Test bowlers despite seeing his team go down to New Zealand in the Test series. Team India was whitewashed in a Test series under Virat Kohli’s leadership for the first time since he took over from MS Dhoni in 2015.
The visitors suffered a 0-2 loss at the hands of New Zealand, who won the first game by 10 wickets and they continued their dominance in the second game as well, ultimately winning by seven wickets.
As a result, New Zealand has moved up to third in ICC World Test Championship tally, after picking up 120 points at the expense of Team India. The Kiwis now have a total of 180 points, and they were placed at sixth in the tally before their series win versus the Men in Blue, who are still at the top with 360 points.

There’s a lot of shakeup in the ICC’s top ten Test bowlers rankings as well, and once again, New Zealand pacers benefitted the most.

The Indian bowler did not have an entirely impressive outing against New Zealand but he has still benefitted from the six wickets he took versus the hosts. They have propelled Bumrah to seventh in ICC’s top ten bowlers rankings for Test cricket.
Before the second Test, the 26-year-old right-arm speedster was in eleventh place in the standings. Now, Bumrah has 779 points.

Meanwhile, Trent Boult and Tim Southee wreaked havoc on the Indian batsmen during the two-match Test series, and it’s had a positive effect on both their respective rankings.
While Southee scalped 14 wickets in the series and moved to fourth in the list with 812 points, Boult returned from an injury and picked up 11 wickets to climbed to the ninth spot having amassed 770 points.
In the batsmen’s rankings, Steven Smith continues to dominate with 911 points to his name.
After Virat Kohli’s recent struggles, he continues to trail the Aussie batsman and he’s ranked second with 886 points. Marnus Labuschagne is bearing down on Kohli in third place with 827 points.
