As per the report, the injury in on an auto-heal mode. But Bumrah will not be rushed into international cricket and he might make a comeback for New Zealand Tests, which take place next year.

“He is on auto-heal mode and the back is recovering well. He has already started running and doing some light warm-up exercises. He will be assessed post-Diwali under the watchful eyes of Nitin. Things have progressed well, just as it had in case of his previous stress fracture which also healed naturally,” a source was quoted as saying by IANS.

Right since his Test debut in January 2018, the Indian team management has been managing Bumrah’s workload given he has emerged as the best bowler for India across formats.

He made his comeback later and played non-stop cricket till World Cup 2019 before being rested for the limited-overs series against West Indies.

Bumrah marked his return to red-ball cricket with 13 wickets in West Indies and was again rested for South Africa T20Is. He was due to make a comeback in Tests but for an injury.

The right-arm pacer is unlikely to be used in home Tests at least for the next two years as India would want a fit Bumrah for the twin T20 World Cups to be played in 2020 and 2021.

In his absence, India are yet to ink on pacers in T20Is while in Tests, Men in Blue have a packed pace attack.
