Jemimah Rodrigues Included in the India Squad for South Africa series

Jemimah Rodrigues, the outstanding Mumbai batter have been drafted in the 16-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. The three ODIs will be part of the ICC Women’s Championship and will be played on February 5, 7 and 10.
Experience batter Mithali Raj will continue to lead the side, while all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur will work as her deputy. Wicket-keeper Taniya Bhatia will replace Nuzhat Parween, who was a part of the 2017 Women’s World Cup. Sushma Verma continues to be the first choice as the wicket-keeper for the team.
The 17-year-old Rodrigues grabbed everybody’s attention scoring 202 in the Inter-State women’s Under-19 one-day tournament for Mumbai against Saurashtra. She became the second cricketer to register a double hundred in the U-19 fixture after Smriti Mandhana.

All-rounder from Madhya Pradesh, Pooja Vastrakar was also included in the squad after Mansi Joshi failed to recover from a knee injury.
India will kickstart their tour on February 2 with a warm-up match in Bloemfontein before playing the first two ODIs in Kimberley. The last match of the series is scheduled to be played at Potchefstroom. The limited-overs series will be followed by the two teams playing a five-match Twenty20 International series.
