Former South Africa cricketer, Jonty Rhodes has commented on Matthew Hayden’s picture, comparing his head injury with the map of Tamil Nadu.

However, the former Australia opening batsman, Matthew Hayden said he had faced some undesirable disaster after suffering a fractured bone in his neck and severe facial injuries while surfing at the weekend in Queensland.

However, the South African legend, Jonty Rhodes had seen the funny side of Hayden’s injury and compared it with the map of Tamil Nadu. He, moreover, commented on the post that Hayden had posted on Instagram which says;

“Hayden is that a map of The Tamil Nadu coast u are wearing on your forehead? Real commitment buddy!!! Some of us softies take the easy option and just get tattoos!!”

However, Hayden already had some long-standing relationship with the state of Tamil Nadu. He was one of the team members for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Moreover, he also came back to India and has also been a part of Star Sports’ commentary team for the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

The 46-year old Australian cricketer retired from international cricket in 2009 after playing 103 Test matches. Meanwhile, he told to Brisbane’s Courier-Mail he was so lucky to escape from a severe injury.

“It was an hour into the session, and we had had half dozen waves together, and I got this one right-handed wave which I sort of ducked under, and that is pretty much all I can remember,” Matthew Hayden told the newspaper Monday.

“I wasn’t knocked out. I was speared into the top of the sandbank onto the top of my head. Then it twisted my head with my own weight and the weight of the wave.

“I heard this god almighty click in my neck. I did not get knocked out, but I sort of came to and rolled up on my back.” Hayden added.

However, Matthew Hayden has formed an alarming opening partnership with Justin Langer, combining 5655 Test runs as an opening pair.

Meanwhile, it was the second highest combination of the opening pair after West Indies duo, Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, who accumulated 6482 runs.
