Former South African legendary fielder Jonty Rhodes was all praise for Ravindra Jadeja after the southpaw scored a vital knock of 58 runs. India had their backs against the wall as they were tottering at 207-7 and Jadeja was able to take the visitors to a respectable score of 297. Subsequently, Rhodes took to his Twitter account and said that it is always handy when a fielder score runs.

However, the Tweet didn’t sit well with one of India’s fan. The fan stated that Rhodes was only known for his fielding whereas the Proteas player was not able to break into top 10 of the ICC rankings. However, the fan said that Ravindra Jadeja is consistently in the list of top 10 all-rounders in the last three or four years.

Subsequently, Jonty Rhodes told the fan to take it easy. Rhodes said Jadeja is an all-rounder and he has an advantage. The former South African batsman stated that Jadeja is a great all-rounder.
Here is the conversation:
Love it when a fielder scores valuable runs #topknock @imjadeja #INDvWI

On the other hand, Jonty Rhodes was in the fray to be India’s fielding coach. However, Rhodes wasn’t considered as MSK Prasad stated that the second and third position was for India A level.

“R Sridhar is one of the best fielding coaches. Unfortunately in the World Cup, maybe he wouldn’t have got… there was 2-3 wicketkeepers in the side, we all know that. Otherwise, he has transformed this into a wonderful fielding unit. There are no second thoughts about Sridhar,” MSK Prasad said.
He added: “With regards to the 2nd and 3rd position, we don’t see Jonty Rhodes fitting in there because those roles are more for India A levels and the NCA.”
Meanwhile, India is currently playing the first Test match against West Indies. The visitors scored 297 after Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja scored half-centuries. West Indies are 189-8 and still trail by 108 runs. Ishant Sharma took a five-wicket haul and have put India’s noses in front.
