Kagiso Rabada Ruled Out Of The ODI Series Against England

Speedster, Kagiso Rabada on Tuesday was ruled out of South Africa’s upcoming 3 match ODI series against England after suffering a hip injury in the T20I series.

According to a statement released by Cricket South Africa, Kagiso Rabada has suffered a right hip strain which would take about three weeks to heal. He played the first two T20Is against England, which South Africa lost.

Rabada’s injury could also be attributed to the mismanagement of his workload. Rabada is coming off a long IPL in the UAE, and was under quarantine before the T20Is against England. Rabada, who has a history of injuries could have been rested for the T20I as an important Test series against Sri Lanka is scheduled for next month.

The right-arm pacer bagged the purple cap in the IPL picking up 30 wickets as Delhi Capitals reached their maiden IPL final. Delhi lost the final to a formidable Mumbai Indians, however, Kagiso Rabada along with compatriot, Anirch Nortje was highly instrumental in Delhi’s success.

England whitewashed the hosts in the three-match T20I series. Eoin Morgan’s team has now not lost their last 8 T20I series- 7 wins and 1 draw. Dawid Malan – the number 1 ICC T20I batsman – won the Man of the Match award in the third T20I for his 99* also the Player of the Series for scoring 173 runs at a strike rate of 161.

England will take on Quinton de Kock’s side for a 3-match ODI series starting 4th December in Cape Town. Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Sam Curran are rested from the ODI series after participating in the IPL.
